First time in Philadephia, PA. Came for a business trip. Training and meeting with the rest of my team. But also squeezed in some time for sightseeing and eats. First sight of the city of Philly and I see City Hall. Tall buildings, old buildings everywhere. Love the feel. Kinda like NYC.
*Apologies for the lack of picture quality. Shot on iPhone 6 instead of my camera this time.
Had to get a coffee in the afternoon. Jae took me to get some. I thought I needed some extra caffeine so I got a dark roast (Napoli). Later on in the evening, I could feel my hands shaking. And I only drank half of my coffee. That’s some strong coffee.
Sunsets create golden buildings.
City Hall – it’s huge. Basically defines city center here in Philadelphia.
Of course. Had to. Tried Pat’s King of Steaks philly cheesesteak. Honestly, I wasn’t all that impressed with it. Nothing TOO special. Mushroom pepper wit whiz. Oh ya.
Pat’s. On the other side of the street was Geno’s. Didn’t get to try but oh well.
After the cheesesteak, walked around the neighborhood and came across some dessert. Sicilian Cannoli’s! Imported from Italy. And the cream… the cream… the cream!!! I want some more!
Rittenhouse Square. One of the five original open space public parks planned by William Penn. Wish we had more of these in Dallas.
Old and New
Lobster roll and lobster bisque dinner at Luke’s Lobster! Quarter pound of lobster in that tiny roll. But oh so good! Definitely recommend.
Tiny little store
City Hall in the evening
Gelato from Capogiro – kiwi flavor
Midnight snack. Shake Shack is so delicious and I’m so excited they’re opening one up in Dallas soon! The fries are perfect. Crispy on the outside and soft and potato-y on the inside. And the burger is great. Crispy bacon and that shack sauce!!!! UGH! Better than In-n-Out.
Breakfast before work
Walked over to the Reading Terminal Market from the hotel after work.
Basically a market with tons of shops and food places inside.
Di’nic’s sandwiches! Rated as one of the best pork sandwiches in America.
They were sold out of the pulled pork so just got the roast pork with the broccoli rabe. Hmmm, such a good mixture flavors!
Basset’s Ice cream also inside Reading Terminal Market – damn good ice cream
Liberty Bell (hard to see)
Washington Square Park – also one of the five original open space parks by William Penn.
Sat here for a while just enjoying the scene. Pretty nice and relaxing.
Walked to Penn’s Landing – right on the Delaware River
Ben Franklin Bridge – New Jersey on the other side of the river.
Yes, let me read into your soul.
Another midnight snack – Honeygrow. Walk by this place so much and it always smells so good.
Stir-fry noodles with broccoli, mushrooms, squash and baby spinach. Really really good.
On the way to the airport – caught a glimpse of the Eagles stadium!
